Public Dataset Catalog
The Public Dataset Catalog lets teams reuse data that has already been prepared in AugmentCity. You can publish eligible project layers as reusable datasets, find datasets published by AugmentCity or other users, and add them to any project as normal layers.
Opening the catalog
- Open the Layers panel.
- Scroll to Data Search at the bottom of the panel. Data Search is currently in beta.
- Expand the section and choose a tab.
Available tabs include:
| Tab | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Overture | Overture Maps data for the current viewport, such as buildings, addresses, places, transport, and land use |
| Curated | Verified public datasets selected by AugmentCity |
| Community | Public datasets published by other users |
| My organization | Organisation-only datasets visible to members of your organisation |
| My datasets | Datasets you published |
| Favorites | Datasets you starred |
Use the sort control to order catalog results by most added, most favorited, recently published, or verified first. Click Browse all datasets for a larger catalog view.
Adding a dataset to a project
- Open a catalog tab.
- Find the dataset you want.
- Click Add.
- Optionally enable Copy publisher's style.
- Click Add to project.
The dataset is added as a regular project layer. You can rename it, reorder it, style it, filter it, include it in scenarios, and use it in shared links like other layers.
Snapshot and live datasets
Catalog datasets can be published in two update modes:
| Mode | Behaviour |
|---|---|
| Snapshot | Your layer stays pinned to the dataset version that was current when you added it |
| Live | Your layer loads the publisher's latest version when the project reloads or the layer is restored |
If a live dataset is later delisted, existing consumer layers are frozen to their last pinned version.
Publishing a dataset
Project members with layer-editing permission can publish eligible layers when their plan allows dataset publishing.
- Expand the layer row in the Layers panel.
- Click Publish as dataset....
- Enter a title, description, tags, and license.
- Choose the audience:
- Public catalog makes the dataset discoverable by other AugmentCity users.
- Organisation only keeps it visible only to members of the owning organisation, when enabled for your plan.
- Choose whether the publisher is shown as you or as an organisation you belong to.
- Choose Snapshot or Live update mode.
- Confirm that you have the right to share the data under the selected license.
- Click Publish.
After publishing, AugmentCity opens the dataset detail page at /datasets/:slug.
Supported layer types
The catalog supports these layer types:
| Type | Notes |
|---|---|
| GeoJSON | Includes imported CSV and shapefile layers after conversion |
| WMS, WMTS, XYZ | Stores the service URL and connection settings |
| ArcGIS Feature Layer, ArcGIS MapServer | Stores the ArcGIS connection settings |
| KML | Stores the imported KML source |
| Raster | Stores the published raster asset |
| 3D Tileset | Stores the tileset connection or asset reference |
Point clouds, IFC, standalone 3D models, terrain layers, and live CZML streams are not publishable in the catalog yet.
Dataset detail pages
Each dataset has a stable detail URL. The detail page shows the title, description, license, tags, layer type, add count, favorite count, and status badges such as Verified, Org, Live, or Delisted.
Signed-in users can favorite datasets, add them to a project, or report a dataset that looks incorrect or inappropriate. Organisation-only dataset pages require sign-in as a member of the owning organisation.
Managing datasets you published
In My datasets, publishers can:
| Action | Effect |
|---|---|
| New version | Publishes a new dataset version from the original source layer |
| Delist | Removes the dataset from catalog discovery |
Delisting does not delete consumer layers that already use the dataset. Snapshot layers keep their pinned version, and live layers freeze to their pinned version.
